About Us

The impacts of climate change are increasingly being felt around the world, underscoring the urgency of reducing carbon emissions and moving toward a sustainable and resilient future. Agriculture, the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, plays a crucial role in decarbonization efforts. Although it accounts for about a quarter of global emissions, the agricultural sector offers many opportunities to reduce its carbon footprint and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

In order to capitalize on these opportunities and accelerate the adoption of Carbon Farming in Morocco, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, through the AgriTech Center of Excellence, and the International Labor Organization, through ProAgro, are collaborating to address the challenges of climate change and implement innovative solutions for the decarbonization of agribusiness, while taking an inclusive approach to Morocco's agricultural and agribusiness ecosystem.

This collaboration is based on several axes, including awareness, training, R&D and innovation, mobilizing national and international experts to share knowledge, exchange expertise and develop programs that support sustainable and resilient agriculture and are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Programs

Farming Innovation Program - Carbon Farming

The Carbon Edition of the Farming Innovation Program was jointly launched by AgriEdge and ProAgro in November 2022 to create an innovation hub for aspiring entrepreneurs with innovative ideas in decarbonization and carbon sequestration, to mobilize the local ecosystem towards a low-carbon Moroccan agribusiness and to encourage Moroccan farmers to produce carbon credits. The program provides technical and business coaching to the selected teams, and puts them in direct contact with mentors and researchers from UM6P and ILO. In addition, it offers them international visibility and the opportunity to integrate a community of professionals in this field.
